Contract Pattern and Assembly Services

Now Offering Contract Pattern and Assembly Services

Assembly

MPI has expanded its services to include contract pattern and assembly services. Offering these services is a natural extension for MPI since the advent of their Automated Pattern Assembly System (APAS), the world’s first fully automated, high-accuracy pattern assembly system. Utilizing this technology, MPI is now able to contract to cost-effectively produce and assemble patterns which can be shipped directly to their customers.”

MPI believes that automation is the future of the industry, but realizes that investing in automation is a substantial step for their customers. By offering contract services, MPI customers are able to reap the benefits of the process without the initial commitment to purchase. It’s an opportunity to take the APAS system for a test drive.

MPI has created a fully functioning wax-injection facility at its newly expanded New York-based world headquarters. MPI believes that providing contract services will provide them with a real world platform to experience the equipment in daily use. The insight gained from this process will help them to further enhance their design process as new machines are developed.

MPI is able to provide contract services very cost effectively because the benefits of total automation with APAS are substantial. The APAS eliminates the need for skilled labor and replaces it with a single machine operator who can be trained in one day.

With total automation, assembly variations are completely eliminated and the number of wax patterns placed on a runner can be substantially increased because robotics allows for highly accurate and repeatable placement. This can increase overall casting yields by 10 – 30%. With APAS, cycle times are 2-5 times faster than with manual assembly, high-quality welds are created 100% of the time and APAS eliminates wax dripping, reduces pattern drop off and reduces shell inclusions. Automated injection cells are also available to perform secondary operations that range from pattern injection to completed pattern assembly.

MPI works with their customer to produce assemblies which, when automated, produce extraordinary bottom-line results. Once clients realize that a robotics-based machine can outperform manually operated machines in accuracy, repeatability, throughput and efficiency, purchasing one for their own use will be a logical step.

Customers will have the option to continue to have MPI produce and assemble their patterns or to purchase the system and have the process duplicated at their own facility.
