Maintenance

Request for Service or Order Parts Online:

You can submit a service or parts request 24/7, 365 days a year. Simply click the appropriate link below to complete an online requisition form which will be forwarded to the MPI service department. You can also access the forms as a downloadable pdf which can be completed and e-mailed to the service department by simply clicking the “submit” button at the bottom of the form.

MPI believes in a strong preventative maintenance program to ensure your equipment availability rate is maintained at the highest possible levels. The maintenance status of your equipment has a direct bearing on the stability of your processes. Equipment maintenance may be performed by your trained technicians, or you may choose to have MPI-trained field service engineers/technicians perform various maintenance operations.

To assist you with your equipment maintenance, MPI offers several maintenance levels that its trained staff will accomplish at your location. MPI’s Authorized Global Service Network (AGSN) augments the MPI field service engineers/technicians. AGSN may be contacted directly or scheduled through the MPI technical support center.

Calibration:

This is a basic level of service during which an MPI service engineer/technician will arrive at your site, and with a calibrated MPI 20-20, ensure that your equipment meets the calibration standards. Note: For proper calibration, the machine must be fully functional. Normal preventative maintenance must be performed by MPI or the customers’ trained staff.

Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP):

Nothing is more critical to your operation than maximizing the uptime of your equipment. MPI’s proven preventative maintenance program does precisely that. It is difficult to predict exactly when your equipment may experience a mechanical failure, but MPI can aid in determining the best interval for preventative maintenance (PM), helping lower any unscheduled maintenance events. There are several factors to be considered when setting the PMP interval, with the key considerations being the type of wax being used and the number of cycles per week. MPI will analyze your usage and set up a PMP that meets your specific needs. During each scheduled PM visit, MPI’s service technician inspects all MPI machines and performs a full service, including a comprehensive function test of each system, inspection of component wear, and replacement of consumables including filters, seals, and O-rings. Any component that does not meet quality standards is annotated for your maintenance staff.

POP- Process Optimization Program (POP):

MPI Systems – POP – Process Optimization Program: If you are similar to most customers, you want to take control of your wax-room reliability and throughput. The MPI Process Optimization Program (POP) helps ensure that your machines are performing at the highest possible levels and that downtime is reduced to an absolute minimum. The POP program does not just include a comprehensive analysis of each machine’s performance, but a comprehensive review of the way the equipment is being operated. An MPI engineer will visit your facility and make recommendations on throughput optimization by making both unit and procedural adjustments. As part of the service, MPI will train your operators and/or process engineers how to incorporate into and implement any recommendations that are made to your current operating procedures.

As a follow-up to each service visit, customers receive a written report. The report includes a comprehensive review of the MPI service engineer’s findings regarding the condition of the machine, analysis of your setup and run procedures, and discussions regarding any adjustments that were made with your operators and maintenance personnel. Before the final report is submitted, it is reviewed by the MPI technical support center. The data is then compared to previous support visits and recommendations are made. This process helps customers identify and avoid potential problems or component failures before they happen.

In addition to reduced downtime, program participants experience decreased cycle times, a reduced number of scrap patterns. and consistent, high-quality wax pattern production.

The major systems evaluated include:

  • Machine Pneumatic System
  • Machine Hydraulic System
  • Machine Wax Seals
  • Overall Machine Performance
  • Machine Operations Testing

Scheduled Service:

Advanced planning of maintenance service will help minimize the overall cost of the service. Scheduled maintenance is planned at a time that is convenient to the customer and, if possible, when a service engineer is scheduled to be in the customer’s area. For calibration, PMP, and POP, advanced scheduling is required.

Emergency Service:

MPI understands that certain machines operate in highly critical environments that allow for minimum to no downtime. When a machine stops operating properly in this environment, it is critical to restore its performance as quickly as possible. MPI will, to the extent feasible, respond to on-site emergency service calls within 24 hours. MPI highly recommends that late model units be equipped with networking capability so that its technical support team has direct Internet access to the machine before any maintenance is required. Additionally, many issues can typically be resolved or troubleshot via remote access, saving on travel expenses and minimizing machine downtime.

Travel and Other Expenses

MPI wants to help control costs associated with maintaining your equipment. MPI accomplishes this by making every effort to fully troubleshoot any machine issues prior to our site visit. Once on-site, the field service technician/engineer can then correct service issues more efficiently. When possible, MPI will arrive with all the tools and parts required to affect the corrective action on the first visit.
