MPI Founder, Bruce Phipps, Honored with EICF Lifetime Achievement Award
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, JUNE 6, 2022: Bruce Phipps, founder of MPI, the worldwide leader in wax-room and ceramic core injection, assembly, and automation equipment, was honored on May 8, 2023, at the 30th EICF Conference and Exhibition in Bregenz, Austria.
The European Investment Casters’ Federation (EICF) presented Bruce with the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to the EICF – and to recognize a life dedicated to the development and growth of the Investment Casting Industry.
This prestigious award had only been awarded twice prior, in 2018 and again in 2022. Bruce’s background and achievements were presented to the EICF Board of Directors who voted to acknowledge his amazing contributions to the EICF over such an extended period of time.

Bruce was acknowledged for his tenacity and perseverance as he traveled across the Atlantic Ocean almost forty years ago with the hope of introducing his new products to the European market. With support from European partnerships he had formed, Bruce was introduced to many foundries where he would guarantee that MPI produced the highest quality wax-room equipment and offered the best maintenance and service levels possible.
Through his technical knowledge and ability to act quickly to find solutions to unique problems, Bruce was able to gain the trust of European foundries. He accomplished this even though his new audience spoke many different languages, had different technical requirements, were spread out over many countries, and were conservative about working with new businesses. By listening, constantly innovating, and developing a highly efficient global sales and service organization, Bruce was able to win over the European market which helped catapult MPI to the top of the industry, where it has remained a leader for over 50 years.
After accepting his award, Bruce stated,
“I am deeply honored to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the EICF. This recognition is a testament to the incredible journey we have taken in the Investment Casting Industry. I am grateful for the support of the EICF, our dedicated employees, and the trust of our clients. This award is dedicated to my amazing wife of 46 years, Mim Tannen, who without her contributions, this would not have been possible.”
During the presentation, Bruce was also awarded the Golden Badge of the EICF, another high distinction.
While Bruce’s accomplishments over the past 50 plus years have been extraordinary, MPI will continue to revolutionize the industry with its out-of-the box thinking and constant innovation under the leadership of Aaron Phipps, Bruce’s son, who has taken the reins as President of MPI.
