MPI’s New “Fly & Try” Program Gaining Momentum
Customer Flown to New York to Experience the MPI Difference

MPI’s New “Fly & Try” Program Gaining Momentum MPI Inc. the worldwide leader in wax room equipment has had substantial interest in their new “Fly & Try” program. The program, which was launched at last year’s ICI Technical Conference, helps MPI demonstrate how confident they are that they can improve almost anyone’s wax-room performance and profitability.

“The concept is simple”, said Bruce Phipps, President of MPI. “We are willing to fly a potential customer to our world headquarters in New York so they can test drive our equipment and see firsthand how MPI machines produce the most consistent, repeatable, accurate, high-quality wax assemblies in the world. The only thing a potential customer has to do is to send us their dies and wax.”

A recent example of the Fly & Try program’s success involves a U.S. company who first met the MPI team at the ICI Technical Conference. They were interested in taking advantage of the program to see if MPI could help them improve their injection process. Their plan was to compare their current wax patterns’ dimensional consistency against the same output using MPI’s equipment.

They arrived in New York with their waxes and dies. Throughout the course of their visit, MPI was able to demonstrate the capability of the injection machine’s Smart Controls™ system. They were highly impressed with MPI for a number of reasons; the professionalism of the organization, the quality of MPI’s products, and most importantly – the fact that they were able to see the actual results, which is much more compelling than simply viewing images and reading about results. They were able to produce a better product and created a higher yield with greater repeatability. The customer’s objective was to improve repeatability. The results of the test allowed them to improve pattern-to-pattern dimensional repeatability.

As a result of their trip, the company has invited MPI to visit their operations to discuss possible process improvements as well as the potential for expansion, and interest in automation. MPI’s initial goal is to focus on process control before moving to the larger goal of automating an entire wax room. A process cannot be automated until the equipment producing the products produces consistent repeatable parts. MPI currently offers solutions created to improve process control and then can move through the automation process in a methodical, step-by-step way that is mindful of each customer’s budget.

This is just one story, but there are several customers who have shown interest in the program including a customer from Europe. MPI is also willing to fly to a customer’s facility and perform a free wax-room evaluation. During the visit, MPI engineers tour their facility and perform an exhaustive review of their current process to help them understand what type of return on investment (ROI) they may experience as a result of increased performance and cost savings. MPI is currently preparing to perform such an evaluation for an international customer.

“Instead of just talking about performance and profitability, MPI is willing to put our money where our mouth is and demonstrate the difference by investing in the customer,” said Bruce Phipps.
