Poughkeepise, NY, December 4, 2013:  MPI, the worldwide leader and innovator of wax-room equipment, once again made significant contributions to the advancement of the Investment Casting Industry through their educational efforts.

Bruce Phipps, President of MPI, regularly delivers presentations to industry executives around the world. In October 2013, Bruce attended the Japanese Foundry Society conference in Tokyo where he delivered a presentation to the entire conference entitled “Automation and Digital Technology in the Wax Room.” The presentation highlighted the importance of using digital technology to collect and analyze data to develop key metrics which can be used to create more robust process control in the wax room. He illustrated that by utilizing both quantitative and qualitative analysis, sound operational decisions can be made netting the most efficient production of both wax patterns and assemblies. Mr. Phipps delivered similar presentations during his travel to Thailand in January.

Bruce also taught at the week-long ICI Certification course in May at Pittsburg State University (PSU), home to the only Investment Casting Institute (ICI) Certification program in the world. Metal casting professionals around the globe travel to PSU to learn about the industry’s latest technological breakthroughs and to experience a high degree of hands-on training.

“I find it energizing to be able to interact and communicate with young people who are so enthusiastic about entering the investment casting industry,” said Bruce Phipps, MPI President. “I’ve had a passion for this industry for over 40 years and enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with students and colleagues in such an amazing setting.”

MPI donated a state-of-the-art wax injection machine to the manufacturing program at PSU located in the Kansas Technology Center, further signifying their deep commitment to industry education.

Jeff Rich, VP/GM of MPI taught at the ICI Process Control course conducted by the Investment Casting Institute in Hartford, CT this past September. Investment casters and suppliers in North America attend the three-day course dedicated solely to the investment casting process control. “MPI has always been dedicated to supporting educational initiatives in the industry,” said Mr. Rich. “We are happy to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.”

Chris Boylan, MPI Director of Sales, presented at this year’s China International Foundry and Forging Industry Expo in Bejing. His presentation, “Competitive Advantages of Automation in the Wax Room,” outlined the significant advancements taking place in automation and how those advancements translate into increased casting yields and cycle times, reduced scrap, perfect wax patterns and assemblies.

Mr. Boylan delivered the same presentation to several clients throughout China.
